VPS AND PRIVATE CLOUD SOLUTIONS - WHAT SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?

VPS AND PRIVATE CLOUD SOLUTIONS - WHAT SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?

Cloud computing has become a very familiar term to the business world. While talking about the Cloud technologies, most of the business owners relate another term- Virtual Private Server

They believe that private cloud and VPS have no difference between them. The truth is that they may not be considered as the interchangeable terms. Though there is a very slight difference, you have to know how these two options are helpful to your business. However, for both virtual servers and Cloud Solutions in New Jersey, you may rely on professionals.

Private Cloud and VPS- Know about their details
Virtual Private Server is also called as VDS or VPS, and you have to install it on your PC, which deals with more than one website. However, only one computer system has the chance to host a number of virtual servers. To install the VPS rightly, you can look for Virtual Servers support in Rutherford, New York. Each of the servers needs to be booted and rebooted separately.

Now, to say about Private Cloud, we may call it as IaaS or VM. You can choose it as the best web hosting option. Within a very short period, this latest technology in the IT field has become much popular. FTP, SSH and lots of other services work on a variety of servers through these Cloud Solutions in New Jersey.

With a Private Cloud system, you will feel much safer as you will get a personal server. While any virus or malware attacks a shared cloud network, your server may stay away from any risk.

The way of setting up the servers
While you are using VPS, there is one physical server, categorized among only a few users. In case of a shared computer server, you may get this type of setup. Lots of accounts can be found on one server. By finding out how many VPS accounts are available on a server, you may find the major difference. It is the virtualization system, which categorizes users. However, you will not get fully isolated or separated from other server users.

For private cloud solution, the resources get allocated across various servers, and while there is any hardware issue, migration to another server may be accomplished smoothly.

Which is more scalable option for you?
As one of the VPS users, you have to update the service with manual effort or use a ticket system to contact the provider. Administrative panel, with Private Cloud, is intended to help you with fastest deployment. With simple clicks, you may have your database and other essential resources.

Price level of two options
For the VM or Private Cloud users, the price rate may be little higher as they have to deal with hardware parts, setup, installation and constant maintenance. You will be able to lower the cost only by considering a hosted Cloud solution. However, you may not have the chance of controlling this hosted Cloud in the best way. VPS is a more affordable option. So, while price rate is the major factor, you can choose VPS as the right solution.

In addition to all the above differences, you can find the variation in hardware location. VPS helps you with off-site hosting, while Private Cloud technology gives you the assistance with an on-site solution. However, for Cloud services and Virtual Servers support in Rutherford, New YorkFree Reprint Articles, you have to consult with the professionals.

WHAT IS CLOUD COMPUTING?

CLOUD COMPUTING

When I was a youngster people often told me that I had my head in the clouds. Today, I willingly admit and I'm proud to have much more than just my head in the clouds. I try to put as much as my life's information into the clouds as possible. Cloud computing for me started out as a curious fascination with emerging technology but today it has come full circle and has evolved to affect the way I view information, organize my life, manage my business and collaborate with others.

File Cabinet in the Skies
Cloud computing is a serious game changer whether used for personal reasons or business pursuits, it will certainly streamline and change the way you perform common daily tasks. I'm still working on reducing the clutter and amount of paper that crosses my desk but one thing that has empowered me to do so is cloud computing. One powerful solution I use is Evernote, while this cloud based software is something different for everyone, for me it is my filing cabinet, idea board and general data repository. When I get mail (the paper stuff), it is opened, scanned using a high speed document scanner and directly imported into a desktop version of Evernote. From there, the file is then synced with the Evernote servers (the cloud) and is immediately accessible on my laptop, iPad, phone, work computers and any other device that has internet access. Before, if I wanted to find an old bill or a certain document, I'd spend hours pouring through the file cabinet in search of an elusive document that isn't where it belongs. Now, with my digital documents, all the text is recognized by my scanning software and all I have to do is type EIN and suddenly that elusive letter the IRS sent 5 years ago with my employer identification number, magically appears on screen.

With all these documents in the digital realm, the paper is nothing more than the remnant of a dead tree. After being scanned, the paper copy is then immediately shredded since I now have the document in multiple places. If the Evernote servers disappear into a black hole, no-worries I have a local copy of that document. If my house burns down while the Evernote servers simulatneously disappear into a black whole, no-worries, I use Carbonite to create a remote backup of my entire computer system. If Evernote, Carbonite and my House all vanish simulatneously, then I have a problem.

Evernote not only holds digital versions of paper document I receive such as receipts, bills, mail, and hand-written notes but it also clips web pages for me which is extremely useful for doing research, saving ideas and bookmarking information for later access. If I'm at the bookstore and see a book I'd like to buy at a later point, I snap a photo with my phone using the Evernote software and the photo is then sent to Evernote's servers where it undergoes advanced OCR (optical character recognition) so that words appearing in the photo, such as the book title, are indexed. When I later search for any words that may be contained in the image, that very photo will pop up.

This same software has also helped me streamline my business. I have tons of legal documents, scripts, ad copy and other information that I often need to access from varying locations. Evernote coupled with other cloud based software permits me to have access to almost any document at any time. This is especially useful during times that I need to collaborate with another individual on a project or pass along some information. Since documents are immediately scanned and existing digital documents are all maintained in the cloud, I can quickly and easily share that information with others.

Documents Redefined
Google Docs is another extremely valuable cloud resource. Not only is it free (there are also paid enterprise versions which are well worth the money) but it changes the way one views a document. At first, typing up a document that wasn't formated for an 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper with 1" margins really bothered me. It bothered me because I was used to documents in Word that were formated for the way they would ultimately appear when printed. As with anything, after enough time of creating cloud based documents, I experienced a paradigm shift. The whole idea with cloud computing, digital information and this technology age is to reduce inefficient paper documents. Now instead of viewing a document as a digital version of an 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper, I view the paper as just one method (the least efficient one) of sharing the information contained on the document. This very article I am typing in Google Docs, when I'm done will be shared with Ben for editing and collaboration purposes after that, I'll copy it to this server where you are viewing it now and these words will spend the remainder of their lives never intended for a sheet of paper (unless, of course, you print this article out).

Google Docs and other cloud based document solutions will save any business immense amounts of time. Most business endeavors are rarely handled by one single person, being able to collaborate on documents is just another game changer for the cloud computing enthusiast. Not only can I keep track of edited versions but I can be working simultaneously on documents, spreadsheets and presentations with coworkers and clients. Instead of having a spreadsheet that gets passed back and forth with multiple copies existing in multiple locations, keeping one shared copy in the cloud will save time, money and headaches.

Mass Information
One area to benefit most from cloud based computing is project management. There are many excellent cloud or server based project management suites such as BaseCamp or Central Desktop that take many cloud based components and roll them into one. The more people involved on a project, the greater the chances of miscommunication. Having all communication, documents, task lists, time sheets, milestones, and goals in one central location provides the entire project team with the information to better succeed.

World Wide Disks
In addition to centralized project management, keeping important files that are needed by multiple individuals in a central location is yet another convinience that a cloud computing user enjoys. Software such as Drop Box allows individuals to have access to files on any most any device they use. I can place photos from a recent product shoot into my drop-box account and then show them to the client using my iPad which is pulling the files from my cloud based disk drive. Core company documents, such as logos, photos, spreadsheets and databases can all be stored on the cloud where they can be centrally managed and more tightly controlled. Now, when a salesperson is putting together a proposal and needs the company logo, you can be certain he is grabbing the most recent version approved by marketing because it is coming from the central cloud based disk drive.

I work in multiple locations from a variety of devices such as my phone, laptop, Macs and PCs and instead of toting around numerous CDs, thumb-drives or other physical disks I simply use my drop-box account to keep important files all synced on all my devices and immediately accessible no matter where I am. Ditching physical disks is not only faster and easier but it is also much more secure. I've lost very important files due to hard drive failures but when data exists on multiple devices and is synced using a cloud based software system, you no longer need to worry about loosing data.

Cloudy Forecast
Regardless of where you may be in the evolution toward cloud based computing, one thing is clear, our future is certainly cloudy and now is the time to embrace this emerging trend. Often times the only thing separating the industry leader from the industry followers is a seemingly insignificant difference in efficiency. The next time you find your self searching for an elusive document, pay attention to the minutes of work or relaxation you are wasting away. When you multiply those few minutes here and there you'll soon see you are loosing entire days or even weeks each year to archaic business operations and organizational techniques.

WHAT IS CLOUD COMPUTING APPLICATIONS?

WHAT IS CLOUD COMPUTING APPLICATIONS

Cloud computing provides access to commercially available software applications without purchasing the license or infrastructure of using it. Read this article for more detailed information about cloud computing.

Cloud computing applications are the applications available as SaaS over the internet which facilitates the user to run those applications without installing them on his own computer. This saves the cost of infrastructure and hardware maintenance. In general cloud computing customers do not own the infrastructure but use it from a third party provider as a service.

Cloud computing applications are loaded at the server of service provider and the service provider give access to these applications through an interface using internet. Every customer has its own unique account from which they log on to the cloud of the provider and access the application they have paid for. Service provider also provides space at his own server for the customer’s data.

Cloud computing provides access to commercially available applications without purchasing the license or infrastructure of using it. This facility allows the companies to use applications which may require some investment in hardware and purchasing of license of the software at a very low price and they need to pay only for the part of the software which they use.

Another very important aspect of cloud computing applications is the facility of backup and recovery. Since the customers use the space of the service provider for saving the data, the backup and recovery of data is the duty of the service provider, which again saves lot of money spent on infrastructure for data security.

Regular updation of features as per client demands or according to the market trends is done by the service provider which makes it available to all the users using the application. Cloud computing applications give their users the freedom of working from locations of their own choice. They need not to worry about the regular IT support they will require to keep their IT arrangement working as they need very basic IT infrastructure to run these applications.

The size and the cost of the applications are eliminated from the picture by cloud computing and it provides easy access to latest and beneficial applications. Be it CRM or payroll or any other analytic application, cloud computing makes it possible for small business owners to access these applications at a low and affordable cost.

It is not that everything is rosy with cloud computing applications. There are few serious question marks regarding the service and one of these is the right over the data. As the service provider provides the space for saving the data in case of customer calling his contract off does the closure of account gives right to the service provider to stop the customer from accessing his own data. Another important factor in using cloud computing applications is privacy. When the data is on the third party domain, encroachment is very much on cards, if this is not checked completely than companies may lose their vital information to their competitors which may prove much costlier than installing the IT infrastructure. And last but not the least it is not possible for every application to run on a public cloud. Some fundamental applications cannot be rewritten to fit in the environment of cloud computing and may not be available as cloud computing applications.

PRIVATE CLOUDS – IMPORTANCE OF MONITORING

PRIVATE CLOUDS – IMPORTANCE OF MONITORING

Despite cloud computing getting all the attention in the world, its subsidiary, the private cloud technology concept remains an unfolded mystery to most of us. The term private cloud computing means Software as a Service (SaaS) infrastructure that runs in the business. This infrastructure can be hosted anywhere and managed by a service provider or internally at an end-user company.

This signifies that there are also virtual private clouds, where a provider handles the infrastructure but the end user company has a dedicated resource it can manage. Let us review the benefits of private clouds.

One of the biggest benefits of a private cloud is privacy. If we compare it to public cloud computing, where we rent access to a service, private cloud allows you to have full control over every decision taken by you regarding privacy, security and control. In public cloud, a company is made to agree to the terms and conditions laid down by some other company but, in private computing, you can build a dedicated and virtualized cloud infrastructure that matches all your business requirements. Moreover, since you are in charge of that particular cloud, you can customize it accordingly and prepare it to look and run according to your specifications. This is yet another benefit as it allows better control over functionality and development process.

Scalability is another area where, private cloud is beneficial for business owners. For businesses, it is important to have the capacity to meet the ever-increasing demand and the traffic. By opting for private cloud computing, a business owner gets limitless options as it can be extended and made as large as possible. However, to achieve this degree of scalability, business owners will have to shed more dollars off their wallets. In actual terms, no one can predict the running cost of a private cloud, unless he is an expert in this technology and has in-depth knowledge about it and services to be used by the company. Deciding the cost largely depends upon the maximum capacity needed by a company. However, there is no denying the fact that the cost of meeting ever-changing computing demands is certainly very high. This is why; many companies look to link private and public cloud as apart from being cost-effective it allows business owners to meet capacity requirements.

Importance of cloud monitoring
No matter on which technology, your private cloud is developed; it will not work to its fullest potential until it is monitored properly. Regular monitoring is very important as if operations suddenly go wayward, the IT section will have nowhere to go because most of them will have insufficient knowledge about this technology. Monitoring is a major role player in managing cloud's security and performance as you can detect the vulnerabilities and fix them instantaneously and save the sensitive data stored in the server.

By monitoring IT related services regularly, a business owner can understand the effectiveness of the apps functioning in the private cloud. He can also keep track of conflict operations running simultaneously and detect the periods of high activity. This detection can help him in realizing the time-period when he needs to add more resources.

WHAT IS CLOUD COMPUTING?

WHAT IS CLOUD COMPUTING?

Cloud computing is a client shared computing through the internet hence the term cloud computing. Cloud computing allows companies to have access to resources as they need them without having to maintain the infrastructure for these resources.

This is beneficial to clients who want to utilize the software without the expense of maintaining an IT department. With the evolution of computers and the internet clients can use internet supported products that look and act as if the programs are locally installed. Most Cloud Computing providers offer common business applications through the internet and through a web browser while the data and software are stored on a different server.

Even though clouds will appear as single points for their clients they may actually be using multiple servers to maintain client's data. Clouds must maintain a certain quality of service and an agreement between cloud and client called a Service Level Agreement is traditionally signed. There are several different clouds that are available some of the major cloud providers are Microsoft, IBM, Salesforce, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Amazon, and Google.

Traditionally cloud providers will bill for usage similar to that used by utility companies. This is a great benefit to cloud providers with multiple companies there is no down time servers are constantly utilized. When deciding whether a cloud provider is the right choice or maintaining your own there are a few things to consider. Cloud provider may save on upfront capital expenditures but operating costs can be expensive. Cloud computing is one way that information is shared within an organization, a network, or a software application. The most common usage for cloud computing involves public clouds. This means that data and software information is actually stored through an internet server instead of on an individual's computer. The individual user is able to access the information through web browsers. Most individuals do not pay directly for the cloud service. Instead, the service is provided by each user's web browser.

Another frequent use for cloud computing is a community cloud. In this type of design, different organizations have access to the same information. Only those within a designated network may access the data, programs, and software applications that comprise the cloud. Community clouds are often used in businesses that are divided into separate locations. This type of cloud may also be found when two or more separate businesses or organizations need to access the same information. In this case, the separate networks would be able to share applications or information from a central database.

A hybrid cloud is less common than other system designs. This term may also be called a combined cloud or a combination cloud. Hybrids can consist of two separate public or community clouds. In addition, a hybrid cloud model may be an individual public or community cloud that uses external or separated hardware devices. Though hybrid clouds have not been as popular with businesses as community clouds  Psychology Articles, most computer experts agree that hybrid clouds are the future of cloud computing design.

Hosting services over the Internet is the main thing cloud computing is about. The cloud symbol that illustrates the Internet by way of diagrams and charts is where the name cloud computing originated from.

Basically, these services fall into three categories: Software-as-a-Service, Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service. A cloud service is different from traditional hosting. It can be sold by the hour or minute. A user can buy the amount of service they want. The customer only needs a personal computer and access to the Internet; the service is managed completely by the provider. Interest in cloud computing is due to important introductions in virtualization and improved access to high-speed Internet.

If the cloud is public it sells services to anyone on the Internet. For example, Amazon Web Services is a huge public cloud provider. A private cloud provides hosted services to a limited amount of people. A virtual private network is the result of a service provider using a public cloud to create their private cloud. Whether the cloud is private or public, cloud computing provides access to computing and information technology services.

Infrastructure-as-a-Service like Amazon Web Services provides virtual server instance to start, attain and assemble their virtual servers. Platform-as-a-Service in the cloud is a set of software tools hosted by the provider. In the software-as-a-service cloud model, the vendor provides the hardware and the software product and acts with the user.

HOW TO FINDING THE BEST PORTABLE GENERATORS

HOW TO FINDING THE BEST PORTABLE GENERATORS
Many people find portable generators extremely useful. Homeowners make up a huge part of this group, since they are able to take portable generators from room to room, or area to area, in a house.

If you are in the market to buy a portable generator, then this article may be of interest to you. Below you will find a guide to follow when you are shopping for portable generators. Remember this: don't become overwhelmed when looking to find the right portable generator for your needs. Simply follow these tips and your purchasing experience can be stress-free.

Why use portable generators?
Portable generators can save a household that experiences frequent power outages. People who live in areas that are often hard-hit by hurricanes, strong storms, and tornados should certainly consider owning a portable generator. Without power, you have no light, no energy for cooking, refrigeration, or pumping water. Lack of power can make the simplest tasks in life seem incredibly difficult. However, with a portable generator, you can live your life uninterrupted when the power is cut off.

The wattage on portable generators
In order to determine how much wattage to look for on a portable generator for your home, you first need to make a list of all of the appliances and lights that you want to run off of the generator. The wattage of all of these things combined will tell you how much wattage your portable generator should have. If you are unsure of how to determine wattage, simply multiply amps by volts. Regardless of which portable generator you choose, you must make sure that it has the maximum output and rated output that you need to run your appliances and lights. Maximum output will start an appliance or light, while sustaining that wattage depends upon the generator's rated output.

HOW TO DO HOME ELECTRICITY REPAIR

HOW TO DO HOME ELECTRICITY REPAIR

Electricity problems at home can be quite unnerving and it can be frustrating when it occurs at midnight especially in summers. An electrician may not be available at all hours. So a basic knowledge about residential wiring and common electricity problems can help you through the havoc. A basic understanding is all that you require. However, avoid solving these issues if they are at greater risk because no matter how much knowledge you have, experience can put you on lacking ground.

Understanding residential wiring
Mostly home electricity is provided with two hot wires and one neutral coming into them which supplies you a voltage of 240/120 volts. However, the basic voltage is slightly less which is around 230/110 volts. This power supply is called single phased power.

You might be aware of alternating current which is taught in physics. So, the power coming to your home is indeed alternating. In common language, alternating current allows electricity to be transported along long distances. Hence, it is feasible for the power department to provide you with electricity.

Now coming to wiring systems again, if you notice only one hot wire along with neutral then you might be getting a power of only 115 volts. It all depends on the wiring system. This type of wiring, however, is mostly seen in electrical devices. Few exceptions like dryer or hot water tanks use both hot and neutral wires use up to voltage of 230 volts.

Basic things to know before working on them
I know, this is highly fascinating but do not tear your electrical devices to see the wiring or your residential power supply because it can be life threatening. Always remember to switch the circuit off before working on them even if the power is down. Keep your contact voltage tester with you. Look at the wirings carefully, it is highly possible to have more than one circuits in a single box. Find the one that you switched off. Wiring system is complex so do not rush and double check yourself.

Working with electricity is dangerous than any task and comes with unfavorable outcomes. So, wear safety gears. If you do not have one then simply wear rubber slippers. They will protect you from electric shocks.

Secondly, every home is provided with a "main service panel" which contains circuit breakers or fuses for maintaining the electricity at your home. Whenever power goes off, check the service panel because in case it might be disconnected.

With this superficial knowledge you will be able to fix minor problems. Do not take risk of solving the major issues as it can be hazardous.

TOP 6 RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SMART WIRING OF YOUR HOME

TOP 6 RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SMART WIRING OF YOUR HOME
Smart wiring is the fundamental need of a house. If you want to have perfect wiring for your home, then you need to have an inspection of your current wiring from a professional Electrician. They would let you know of the precautions that you can take to save your home from electric risks which could be dangerous for your family members and kids. One can't predict about kids because they are always in a struggle to grab something new, or worse, put their fingers in electrical openings unintentionally. What should one do? Covering all the dangling electrical wires is not an ideal solution to this problem. Let's have a look at some Key guidelines for smart wiring.

1. Installing Enclosures
Enclosures will be the hub of your installation. You must have enough space after installation for future expansions. Each floor of your home should have a separate distribution board. So, instead of a single enclosure powering the whole house, it is recommended to install separated distribution boards dedicated to each floor.

2. Use Terminals
The purpose of terminal blocks is to keep your wiring neat, clean and tangle-free. Using terminal block doesn't create bird's nest of cables. You can make changes quickly at first glance. Also, you can keep an eye on your installation. You can directly manage your wire-to-wire connections using terminals.

3. Selection of Right Cables
Perfect wiring can only be achieved when you have good quality cable. Your whole installation process relies on the quality of the cable. You must have detailed information regarding cables before installing them. Which type of cable is easier to work with? Which one is having more power capacity and efficient in lower voltage dropping? What kind of cable is required for each sensor point of your home? You should have answers to all such questions because these are going to help you out in having smart wiring for your home.

4. Use Finger Trunking
Finger trunking would help you to keep wires in an organized manner. You need to place this in between each DIN rail and make sure outer Trunking should be at least of double in width from the trunking between the rails.

5. Input and output wires labeling
Make sure that you have marked each entry and exit cable because if you want to do any further expansion in your home, then this categorization would be useful for you to change or expand. It would let you have easier access to your desired enclosure in future, and this will not be a tough nut to crack.

6. Electricians must be trained
If you are looking for perfect wiring in your home, then take help from skilled individuals who have PAT testing certification. You can't afford risk pertaining to electrical wiring. So make sure you are satisfied by the experience and cost of the professional.

This article contains some essential guidelines - from installing the enclosures to hiring skilled experts who will look into your current home wiring and would give you plausible suggestions to fix them early. Several Companies are offering high-quality cables and all the other necessary products which are required for perfect wiring. Install them in your homes with the help of skilled electricians who can dive deeply to resolve your electrical issues.

HOME WIRING TECHNIQUE

HOME WIRING TECHNIQUE

At the home, the three wires from the pole/green box transformer are connected through a wattmeter and then enter a main service panel that is grounded to a long copper rod driven into the ground or to the steel in a home's foundation. The A-phase and B-phase wires that enter the main panel are connected through a main disconnect breaker, while the neutral wire is connected to a terminal referred to as the neutral bar or neutral bus. A ground bar also may be present within the main service panel. The ground bar is connected to the grounding rod or to the foundation's steel supports. Within main service panels, the neutral bar and the ground bar are connected together (they act as one).

However, within subpanels (service panels that get their power from the main service panel but which are located some distance from the main service panel), the neutral and ground bars are not joined together. Instead, the subpanel's ground bar receives a ground wire from the main service panel. Often the metal conduit that is used to transport the wires from the main service panel to the subpanel is used as the "ground wire." However, for certain critical applications (e.g., computer and life-support systems), the ground wire probably will be included within the conduit. Also, if a subpanel is not located in the same building as the main panel, a new ground rod typically is used to ground the subpanel. Note that different regions within the United States may use different wiring protocols.

Within the main service panel, there are typically two bus bars into which circuit breaker modules are inserted. One of these bus bars is connected to the A-phase wire; the other bus bar is connected to the B-phase wire. To power a group of 120-V loads (e.g., upstairs lights and 120-V outlets), you throw the main breaker to the off position and then insert a single-pole breaker into one of the bus bars. (You can choose either the A-phase bus bar or the B-phase bus bar. The choice of which bus bar you use only becomes important when it comes to balancing the overall load-more on that in a second.) Next, you take a 120-V three-wire cable and connect the cable's black (hot) wire to the breaker, connect the cable's white (neutral) wire to the neutral bar, and connect the cable's ground wire (green or bare) to the ground bar. You then run the cable to where the 120-V loads are located, connect the hot and neutral wires across the load, and fasten the ground wire to the case of the load (typically a ground screw is supplied on an outlet mounting or light figure for this purpose).

To power other 120-V loads that use their own breakers, you basically do the same thing you did in the last setup. However, to maximize the capacity of the main panel (or subpanel) to supply as much current as possible without overloading the main circuit breaker in the process, it is important to balance the number of loads connected to the A-phase breakers with the number of loads connected to the B-phase breakers.

This is referred to as balancing the load. Now, if you want to supply power to 240-V appliances (e.g., ovens, washers, etc.), you insert a double-pole breaker between the A-phase and B-phase bus bars in the main panel (or subpanel). Next, you take a 240-V three-wire cable and attach one of its hot wires to the A-phase terminal of the breaker and attach its other hot wire to the B-phase terminal of the breaker. The ground wire (green or bare) is connected to the ground bar. You then run the cable to where the 240-V loads are located and attach the wires to the corresponding terminals of the load (typically within a 240-V outlet). Also, 120-V/240-V appliances are wired in a similar manner, except you use a four wire cable that contains an additional neutral (white) wire that is joined at the neutral bar within the main panel (or subpanel). (As a practical note, you could use a four wire 120-V/240-V cable instead of a 240-V three-wire cable for 240-V applications- you would just leave the neutral wire alone in this case.)

As a note of caution, do not attempt home wiring unless you are sure of your abilities. If you feel that you are capable, just make sure to flip the main breaker off before you start work within the main service panel. When working on light fixtures, switches, and outlets that are connected to an individual breaker, tag that breaker with tape so that you do not mistakenly flip the wrong breaker when you go back to test your connections.

TYPES OF NON-METAL CONDUIT

TYPES OF NON-METAL CONDUIT

Most of the non-metal conduit is made from a hard-wearing plastic like PVC. It is a practical choice in areas that cannot accept metal, such as a hospital MRI room. Also, it is useful for encasing in concrete under a driveway, or areas that are often in contact with water. PVC conduit is not only watertight, but is also able to stand up to long-term exposure to water without experiencing issues with corrosion or rust.

The preferred type of non-metal conduit is based on factors like the overall installation cost, corrosion resistance and mechanical protection. Here are a few of the most popular types of non-metal conduit:

Rigid non-metal conduit (RNC)
The rigid non-metal conduit is the most cost-effective option in the market and practical for those working on a tight budget. The fittings are easily attached together with a solvent which is a lot faster than the methods used to secure the separate pieces of metal conduit. Once the solvent is welded and cooled, the joint is certain to be watertight for the long-term. This type of conduit can be heated to make it more pliable and easily bent to fit the awkward spaces.

The standard size of this tubing is schedule 40 or 80. There is also the option to use different wall thicknesses and sizes. However, the thick tubing can start to get difficult to heat and bend, so is more practical for the straight routes.

Even though the RNC is a versatile option in a variety of situations, it does have the disadvantage of not being so effective at standing up to bumps or knocks compared to the metal alternatives. It is not a practical choice for grounding, so a special conductor is necessary. Also, when exposed to heat the plastic can expand and contract, so must be considered when planning the long runs.

Electrical Non-metallic Tubing (ENT)
The electrical non-metallic tubing is made of thin tubing like material that is flexible and easy bent to shape. But, the bend isn't likely to stay permanently. This tubing is useful to get around obstacles without needing to weld or cut. Plus, it is quick to install with snap-in connections, which does mean it isn't a practical choice for the moist environments. The preferred option for the mildly damp areas is the liquid-tight flexible non-metallic conduit which is built with a proper seal to protect against water entry.

TYPES OF OSCILLOSCOPE PROBES

TYPES OF OSCILLOSCOPE PROBES

Oscilloscopes are an electronic test device that allows you to observe the varying signal voltages. They are used in a lot of different industries and they are used to test and watch the change to electrical systems over time. They are used by mechanics, nurses, lab technicians and engineers alike, but the oscilloscope itself can't do much. This is why we also need probes.

Probes come in a variety of sizes and shapes and for a multitude of uses, and they come in two types--active and passive. While the oscilloscope itself is a complicated piece of equipment, there are companies out there that deal solely with the probes; they manufacture them, test them, come up with different ways to use them and deal with the many parts and even storage options for them, this is how important the probes are to the overall unit. You can't read something if you have no way of getting the information to the device, right?

Passive probes, then, are ones that contain no active electronic parts. Therefore they require no external power to feed them. You need specific probes because ones not really there for the job at hand can lead to interference and won't give you a proper read of the information. Scope probes use coaxial cable to transmit the signal from the tip of the probe to the oscilloscope. This cable protects the signal from any external electromagnetic interference and therefore you get a more accurate read. This type of probe also has a lower inductance than so called flying leads making them more accurate for increasing frequency signals.

Active probes, on the other hand use a high impedance, high frequency amplification mounted in the probe head itself and they also use a screened lead. These are the more expensive option however, as there is more to the manufacture of them, and they also require their own power. Their dynamic range is also limited, however, they have a low voltage rating which allows the heads to be very small. Some industries love that fact as they are more convenient to use with modern circuits than the bigger, bulkier option.

Just like a car can't run without an engine, an oscilloscope can't work without its probes. Which probes you need or want will depend on what you are using the device for but with so many options it should be easy to narrow it down.

CHOOSING A DUST CONTROL SYSTEM

CHOOSING A DUST CONTROL SYSTEM

Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) has been knocking on your door about the dust emissions on the mine. Or perhaps the community has been complaining about pollution. Whatever your motivation - are you aware of what dust control entails? What is available on the market? What is regarded as "best practice"? What additional benefits can be offered? Who are the market leaders?

A scenario that presents itself too often is a request for quote (or better known as a RFQ) for the supply of a dust control unit for a mine. The RFQ would typically contain detailed specifications formulated by the engineering department and passed on to the supply chain managers that subsequently issued the RFQ to potential suppliers that has been identified by the commercial department. Nothing out of the ordinary there. Or is there? What really happened is that the engineering department had collaborated with the commercial department to come up with a scheme to waste funds.

Let me explain. What should have happened is for the engineering department to first recognise the fact that they are mining experts and not emission control experts. Therefore, it would make sense to consult with experts on the matter, and come up with a scope of supply that makes sense.

A logical starting point would be to speak to your neighbours. Remember that, when it comes to ground water and air contamination, your neighbour would want you to put in at least as much effort as he does. Because pinning down an environmental criminal is like trying to 'pin the tail on the donkey'. Pollution created by your neighbour could settle on your front porch and make you look like the guilty one, and similarly, measures implemented by your neighbour could benefit you. If both you and your neighbour implement effective measures, the DMR will have to look elsewhere for a culprit. Another very important reason for looking at what your neighbour does to curb emissions, is to form an idea of what works and what doesn't.

But there are a few simple considerations that should cross your mind before you decide on how to approach the decision making process for a dust control system:
  1. Extraction or suppression
  2. Chemical or water only
  3. High or low pressure (fog or spray)
Extraction vs Suppression:
A dry filtering system (bag house) is an effective way to control dust emissions. Airborne dust is sucked up through ducting chutes above each transfer point. The dust is then collected via filtering of the air.

An alternative is to separate the air and dust via wet cyclone scrubbers. However, capital expense and maintenance cost often makes this option not viable in most cases:
  1. High capital cost - multiple extraction points required.
  2. Labour intensive and costly maintenance
  3. Short lifespan
  4. High energy cost
  5. Waste product to deal with (collected fines)
  6. No lasting (downstream) benefit
Suppression in general is a better option than extraction primarily due to the fact you would not have to deal with collected fines, and maintenance is not labour-intensive. An additional benefit is that you do not remove sellable material from the ore stream.

Even if you have had no previous experience with emission control technologies, you could implement an effective program to reduce airborne dust. The key is to speak to the right people and consider the following:
  1. Does the potential supplier have reference sites
  2. Can you visit the sites
  3. Do they effectively reduce emissions
Once you have the answer to the above, your next set of questions should be (in order to select potential suppliers):
  1. How many sites does the potential supplier have
  2. Does he have experience with your material
  3. Are the system maintenance friendly (cost effective)
  4. If chemicals are used - are the chemicals safe for employees
  5. Will the chemicals interfere with mining processes
  6. Can they prove emission levels
  7. Can they prove consumption figures

Emission control is serious business, and Benmarc is a serious company.

HOW A PNEUMATIC MOTOR WORKS ON BRAKE DISCS?

HOW A PNEUMATIC MOTOR WORKS ON BRAKE DISCS?

Experimentation in the engineering world is a common activity. Engineers are always trying to find ways that could save the environment. Often the product is semi-successful but never one hundred percent.

A pneumatic motor or compressed air car works using simple physics laws. Gas will always try to find an open space to escape through. When picturing the pneumatic car imagine you pop a balloon filled with air using a needle. The balloon will explode releasing the air with immense force.

These pneumatic cars have a compressed air tank that has to be refilled after every drive. To fill up one of these tanks, the car has to be plugged in to retrieve air from around the car. The process takes up to two hours and might not be efficient for the everyday driver but it is definitely a start to saving the environment. Air that is sucked up into the compressed air tank is used to control the pistons to power the engine.

The accelerator will operate a valve on the tank where the air gets released. The compressed air will then enter a pipe that leads to the engine. As the air expands within each cylinder head where the piston is, the crankshaft will turn. The crankshaft is the mechanism that makes the axle turn making the car move forward.

This type of car will only reach to about 60 kilometres per hour at initial movement. Once the car passes that speed, the motor will activate to operate an in-car pneumatics compressor so that it can compress more air and provide extra power to the engine. The mechanisms of the car also heat the air upon arrival to the engine. Heated air increases volume which means that the car will be able to move faster.

The pneumatic car will only require petrol for the motor when the car reaches more than 60 kilometres per hour. This will pollute the air slightly but it is a great improvement on our everyday petrol or diesel engines.

This type of car is also incredibly light weighing just under a ton. Most light weight cars usually weigh about 1.2 tonnes or 1200 kilograms.

The best part about this car is that all the other mechanisms will remain the same. For example the braking procedure still involves brake discs and brake pads. Plus non-feeding components can easily be fixed or repaired if they ever get worn down.

HISTORY OF ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING

Electrical engineering is a discipline of science that is very broad and has the fastest development level in several dakade this when compared with other disciplines. This is due to the increasing number of market demand for the technological developments from this field which have an impact on the increasing of various research in the field of electro and also supported by the growth of electro industry and requirement in decades.
HISTORY OF ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING

Hans Christian Orsted

The development of the science of electro started from the discovery of the relationship between magnetic field and electrical energy by Hans Christian Orsted in 1820 that the electrically grounded wire can reject the compass needle magnet. However, Osrted does not offer a satisfactory explanation for this phenomenon. Nor did he attempt to present the phenomenon in a magnetic framework. A month after the discovery of Orsted spread in Paris, two French scientists Jean Baptise Biot and Felix Savart managed to determine the shape of the magnetic field generated by a stable electrical current. The experiment was later known as the Biot-Savart law.
HISTORY OF ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING

Michael Faraday

The discovery of the electromagnetic field then continues in the study of Michael Faraday who invented the Electric Motion Style based on his research on the effects of changes in the magnetic field in the coil that causes the emergence of a potential difference at the end of the coil. Michael Faraday discovered the effect of this magnetic induction in 1831. Although his discovery was almost simultaneous with the invention of Joseph Henry, many of the scientists and students of electro admitted Michael Faraday as the Founder of Electricity.

Basically Michael Faraday has invented the first electric power generation and electric motor technique through his experimental results. In that experiment he uses a magnet that is moved in and out through the coil to produce a potential electric difference at the ends of the coil.

GENERAL INTRODUCTION WHAT IS ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

In this article will provide a little explanation of electrical engineering before we get into the deeper and more complex material of course. And hopefully what in this article will help us to understand about electrical engineering.

GENERAL INTRODUCTION WHAT IS ELECTRICAL ENGGINERING

What is electrical engineering?
Electrical engineering is one of the fields of engineering science concerning electrical applications to meet the needs of human life. Electrical engineering involves the concept, planning, development, and production of electrical and electronic devices needed by the community. People who are experts in the field of engineering usually called Enginer. Electrical Enginer plays an important role in developing and advancing high technology in the world of telecommunications, energy and other applications of electrical and electronic devices. Electrical engineering also works with techniques from other fields, such as chemistry, machinery and civil engineering to design, develop and assist a wide range of products and services such as energy distribution systems, computers, satellite systems, radios, radar systems, electric cars and many more Which involves electrical and electronic components.

Why electricity can exist?

Electricity is due to the movement in which the movement occurs the intersection between the magnetic field and the coil (conductor). This causes a potential difference at the end of the coil so that electricity can flow. The flow of electricity is what we use to be able to display images on TV, listen to the radio and many other benefits.

EXPLAIN THE ADVANTAGES OF PLC (PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER)

EXPLAIN THE ADVANTAGES OF PLC (PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER)

Connecting the previous article about the explain PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), the PLC not only has deficiency. The use of PLC in everyday life and in the industry has become a necessity, especially for replacing the wiring system (wiring) which is still used in the previous system. The users began to shift attention to the PLC because a lot of advantages and benefits offered by the system can be programmed to retrieve it. The advantages and benefits include:
  1. Flexible
In the past, the use of the control system requires a lot of processing systems for each device only. For example if there are five engines then it takes five controllers. It is now solved by using PLC. Simply using a PLC course, a lot of devices that can be run with each program. Wiring system beginning to be addressed and reduced, the fewer wires used and ringkat / simple. No need much space to put it.
  2. The price Cheaper
If we look back to the side of flexibility must already be an answer, where prices are issued much less (cost) when compared with the previous system. When the old system (relay) still use costly wiring, PLC offers simple wiring. Wiring can be done with large numbers only with a PLC, for PLC include relays, timers, counters, sequencer, and some functions that can be customized according to the needs.
  3. The number of contacts Many
The number of contacts who owned a PLC provides a lot of convenience to users. Not only in financial terms, but also the installation. It would be much simpler and easier when compared with the relay. For example, the PLC-5, an Allen Bradley PLC output with minimal contact number of contacts 16-32, while the relay contacts 4-8 provide a contact number.
  4. Can Do Programming, Reprogramming and Correction with Ease
PLC has advantages where the system can be reprogrammed quickly, bercampurpun production process can be completed quickly. Even when the system is running. If one of the systems will be changed or corrected, pengubahannya only performed on the program contained in the computer, with a relatively short time, after which it is downloaded to the PLC. If the relay, the necessary changes to the cabling, the time will be very long and risky and should turn off the running system.
  5. Easy Programming Methods and Miscellaneous
Many methods to create a program in the PLC. As described in the PLC programming, mentioned that there are many methods offered to create a program on the PLC, among Ladder Logic Diagram, Function Block Diagram Mneumonic and. Every programmer can make your choice the method according to the needs and abilities.
  6. Simplify Control System Components
In the PLC also include timers, counters, relays and other components, so it no longer requires such components as an extra. Use of relay requires counters, timers or other components for enhancements.
  7. Security Secured
When viewed from the side of safety, PLC relatively safe remarkable device, in terms of documentation, tools, and matters concerning the program. PLC has a locking system (lock), thereby reducing and could avoid their pecurian in any form.
  8. Existence and the Data Record Interface Enables Users
PLC is designed to be able to store the data required in accordance with the needs and programs. Facilitated through an interface that can display the process, as well as the comparison of data into a computer device (PC) connected to the PLC.
  9. Recent System with Wireless\
The latest system of PLC by offering wireless systems and can be accessed by the user to easily and remotely. There must come into the office or a special room.
  10. Upgrade Systems and Components Faster
Users can Adds the components of control at any time and without requiring a large labor costs as well as in a conventional controller (relay). Facilitated also by the components provided in the form of a module package, the installation can be done quickly and easily.

Besides the advantages of the PLC, the PLC was not free from deficiency. Any deficiency of PLC?

EXPLAIN THE DEFICIENCY OF PLC (PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER)

EXPLAIN THE DEFICIENCY OF PLC (PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER)

Connecting the previous article about the explain PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), the PLC not only has advantages. As a result of the creation of humans, of course, the PLC still has deficiency and weaknesses in every generation do corrections and improvements. PLC on its role as a control system has a quite fundamental weakness and still continued to be pressured in order to obtain results that approached perfection and hope that is, either by the vendor or by the user, of course. As for the shortcomings of the PLC can be explained as follows:
  1. Still New Technology
Changing the old system that uses relay into computer concept PLC is still considered new for some people. Surely this makes a great challenge for PLC vendors to improve recognition of the PLC to the general public and society technologies (in particular). Meanwhile, PLC is widely used at industrial level only, not many penetrated the wider world is people. Although not overly affect the industrial market, with a PLC system know people will be able to have its own interest to hone science, especially in the field of control with PLC and make their implementation in everyday life.
  2. Application to Application Programs recent PLC Static (Fixed)
PLC applications can include multiple functions at once. On the other hand, some applications are applications with a single function. Rarely do change even not at all or static. It makes use of PLC in applications with a single function is considered ineffective even be able to spend a huge cost alias wasteful. Therefore, the use of PLC in small applicationsare not recommended by experts control system.
  3. Operation with the arrangement Static (Fixed)
Performance PLC are not optimal and cost effective to waste even if the circuit in an operation not performed a thorough change. The process to be slow and makes the compromised system, affect the production and output.

Besides the deficiency of the PLC, the PLC was not free from advantages. Any advantages of PLC?
